一、a lot of = lots of = plenty of 許多+不可數/可數名詞
a lot of and lots of have the same meaning (a lot of和lots of的意思一樣):
They both mean a large amount or number of people or things. 他們的意思都是指「大量的人或事物」
用法: They both used before countable nouns and uncountable nouns. 他們皆可以用於可數和不可數的名詞之前:
例句:
1. With countable nouns 接可數名詞:
A lot of (= Lots of) people went to the game. 很多人去看比賽。(people<人們>為複數名詞,至少指兩人)
I have a lot of friends. 我有很多朋友。(friends為可數複數名詞)
2. With uncountable nouns 接不可數名詞:
A lot of snow falls in winter. = Lots of snow falls in winter.冬天都下很多雪。(snow為不可數名詞)
She eats lots of fruit. 她都吃很多水果。(fruit為不可數名詞)
He earns lots of money. 他賺的錢很多。(money為不可數名詞)
二、A lot is different. (a lot的意思不一樣):
A lot means very often or very much.(a lot指的是很頻繁或非常多) It is used an adverb. 它被當成副詞使用。It often comes at the end of a sentence and never before a noun.它通常放在句尾且不放在名詞之前。
例句:
I like basketball a lot. 我非常喜歡籃球。= I like basketball very much.
She’s a lot happier now than she was.她現在比以前還要開心多了。(a lot和much都可用來修飾形容詞的比較級,表示「…的多了」,如I feel better.我覺得比較好了。→ I feel much (= a lot) better.我覺得好很多了。
